What can be done for age spots on my hands?
BroadBand Light therapy, also known as Intense Pulsed Light therapy or the photo facial, uses cutting edge technology to produce younger looking skin that’s firmer, and more even in tone and texture. With little recovery time and no surgery, BBL offers a safe, FDA-cleared option for sun damage, anti-aging, and skin rejuvenation and is best for lighter skin tones. The Picosure laser may work better for darker skin tones and only takes care of browns, not reds. Also, the Picosure laser has no downtime but takes longer to see results. Peels can also be used alone or in combination with the above lasers to remove dead skin build up. We have all sorts of peels depending on the patient’s needs.

The BBL laser is safe for lighter skin tones to decrease both browns and reds. For rosacea patients or those with broken capillaries, the BBL is better. With BBL, there is a week of ‘coffee ground’ appearance over sun spots, for example. But once the ‘coffee grounds’ flake off, the result is apparent. This is a quicker result than the Picosure laser. Sun avoidance is also necessary with the BBL laser whereas it is not detrimental after Picosure laser.
