Enhance Your Look with Microneedling in Beverly Hills
Microneedling, otherwise known as collagen-induction therapy, is a popular, minimally invasive procedure that uses tiny needles to improve the appearance of acne scars, wrinkles and skin tone. FDA-approved Microneedling devices superficially puncture the skin by repeatedly rolling.
Although it may seem painful, Microneedling is an inexpensive technique that is safe, effective and has minor side effects. Microneedling treatments are simple, quick, and effective, with little downtime and high patient satisfaction.
The Gallery above depicts Before and After Images of actual patients. The pictures show skin improvement after Microneedling.
What is Microneedling?
Microneedling is a modern, cosmetic collagen-inducing treatment that targets acne scars, wrinkles, stretch marks, uneven skin tone, and hyperpigmentation. Microneedling devices use fine needles to puncture the skin by repeatedly rolling along the skin. Providers may use a derma roller or Microneedling machine. This procedure triggers skin repair and induces collagen growth. Microneedling is a simple, office-based procedure lasting 10-20 minutes. Treatments are typically performed in multiple sessions to achieve the desired effect. Microneedling is well-tolerated by patients with minimal downtime and few side effects.
Multiple forms of Microneedling are now available thanks to advancements in medical technology to rejuvenate and enhance skin quality. Undergoing a Microneedling procedure at an aesthetic facility offers enhanced rejuvenation benefits compared to at-home Microneedling devices. Common forms of Microneedling treatments may include:
Mechanical Microneedling: Mechanical Microneedling includes a motorized pen with slender needles that creates thousands of microchannels in the skin to enhance collagen production. These motorized pens help to combat signs of aging, photodamage, enlarged pores, and scars to allow new healthy tissue to form.
RF Microneedling : With Microneedling RF, a handheld device creates fewer punctures to the skin at a more substantial depth than mechanical Microneedling pens. These devices emit radiofrequency waves beneath the skin's surface to trigger faster cellular turnover and enhanced skin rejuvenation.
Microneedling with PRP : With Microneedling with PRP, either cosmetic device may be combined with PRP to produce optimal effects. This treatment involves applying one's own platelets (a component of the blood) to the treatment area to expedite the healing process and improve skin texture.

“Dr. Nazarian and Alexa are amazing! I went in for the DermaPen Microneedling and after only one time I can already see a huge difference! My skin is so clear I did not even wear foundation to work! Multiple people told me I was glowing! First they numb your face so you hardly feel anything, it really just feels like a vibration. It's really a magical pen! I can't wait to go back for round 2!”

Vivace and Morpheus8 take microneedling to the next level by combining it with radiofrequency (RF) energy. Not only do these cutting-edge procedures address pore size, scarring, and skin texture, but also skin tone and tightness.
You should schedule an in-person or virtual consultation to discuss your needs. During your microneedling consultation, Dr. Nazarian or a member of her highly trained staff will listen closely to what bothers you about your skin, face, or body. She will question you about any prior procedures or surgeries and discuss your current skincare regimen. She will then perform a thorough physical examination to assess your skin tone, texture, and laxity if any. Together, you will come up with the treatment plan that best serves your individual anatomy and needs.
The Amazon rollers may not be well made. It is really easy for the needles to become dull or bent or harbor bacteria, which can be dangerous. If you would like an at-home roller to use, we recommend the Gold Roller on theskinspot.com. Gold is antimicrobial and the roller should be cleaned between uses. The cleaning fluid is also available online. The Gold Roller needles are not as long as the ones that I use in a medical microneedling procedure like Vivace or Morpheus8. The longer needles produce much more dramatic results.
Both the Vivace and Morpheus8 procedure are really well tolerated by our patients. We always apply a high-grade numbing cream to the skin in the treatment area that we have compounded specifically for our office. Having said that, the non-insulated needles definitely “smart” more than the insulated ones. So, if you have acne scars, the procedure is going to hurt a little more. But it works when so many other things don’t. Most of my acne scar patients agree that the pay-off is well worth any small amount of potential pain.
I know. But keep in mind that the needles themselves are really thin. So, while you can expect to be red after an intense session, it really only looks as if you’ve been to the gym. And even this fades in a couple of days. One of the things that I love most about microneedling is the fact that I can have a treatment and then just carry on with my life. There are no restrictions on exercise or need to apply special creams. It’s pretty miraculous.
Microneedling, otherwise known as collagen-induction therapy, is a popular, minimally invasive procedure that uses tiny needles to improve the appearance of acne scars, wrinkles, and skin tone.
Results typically depend on your age and skin condition. The number of sessions varies, and new collagen continues to grow for up to 3-6 months after treatment.
Although the risks of Microneedling are minimal, potential side effects include:
Dryness
Rough skin
Tightness
Redness
Itching
Peeling
Discomfort
Burning
Bruising
Crusting
Pigmentation changes (rare)
Infection (rare)
Reactivation of herpes cold sores (rare)
Microneedling is well-tolerated by patients with minimal downtime and few side effects. This procedure has an 86% worth it rating on the platform realself.com.
Both procedures have significantly high patient satisfaction and provide smoother, more youthful skin. However, Microneedling creates firmer, healthier appearing skin.
The price for Microneedling ranges from $25-$3000 and depends on the number of treatments, your provider’s level of experience, and office location.
