How the Procedure Works
The DermaPen Microneedling Pen contains a spring-loaded needle tip with ultra-fine, sterile stainless steel needles. This device is a sterilized disposable tip cartridge. The 11 micro-needles in the pen puncture into the skin to accommodate different treatment areas. It can easily maneuver contours and delicate features such as the eyes, nose, and mouth.
Before & Preparation
- Drink lots of water before your treatment.
- Eat a healthy diet the week before your treatment.
- Avoid wearing makeup, lotions, perfumes, and serums on the day of your treatment.
- Cleanse your face before treatment.
- Do not shave on the day of the procedure.
- Do not take anti-inflammatory medications such as Ibuprofen for 3 days before the procedure.
- Avoid topical agents that may increase skin sensitivity, such as retinoids, exfoliants, topical antibiotics, and acids, for 5-7 days before treatment.

During the Procedure
- Your provider will cleanse the face of any dust or dirt using a bit of alcohol.
- A numbing cream will be applied if needed.
- The DermaPen will be used to prick into the skin with tiny sterilized needles.
- The minor wounds stimulate the healing process, reducing the appearance of those scars, fine lines, wrinkles, and dark spots.
- Your provider will apply an epidermal repair cream.
Aftercare & Recovery
- Do not wear any makeup to give your skin time to breathe and start the healing process.

The ideal candidate for DermaPen Microneedling must be in overall good health. However, as shown below, some factors determine a good candidate for DermaPen Microneedling.Typical Age: 22 years and older, according to the FDA but doctors can treat at whatever age they deem to be a good candidate “off-label”.
Health Restrictions: This may include;
- Candidates with a history of clotting or bleeding disorders such as hemophilia
