Beyond the Cup: Finding the Perfect Breast Size for Balance and Beauty

Do you want to get a breast implant? You must think the easiest ever would be to pick the right size, correct?

It is not as straightforward as it seems. Choosing the right size is about more than just picking the largest available size. You must keep in mind your body’s peculiar structure and measurements.

To maintain your body’s silhouette, keeping it proportional is cardinal.

At Nazarian Plastic Surgery, we help you choose an implant size that not only enhances your breasts but also considers body symmetry and proportion. We consider two vital factors — your weight and height. The results will look better and more natural!

Factors Affecting Breast Size

Unlike other parts of your body, your breasts will change in size and shape throughout your lifecycle. Several factors play a role in determining the size of your breasts. Some of these factors are discussed below.

Genetics

Your genes play a key role in how you look overall. It determines the color of your eyes, hair, and several other features. It is the same for your breasts. A family history of big breasts means you’re more likely to have big breasts. Note that the genes that control breast size come from both your maternal side and your father’s! Incredible right?

Weight Changes

Alterations in your body weight can impact the size of your breasts. The breast consists of connective tissues, adipose tissue, as well as, lactiferous ducts, and tubules—that produce milk and deliver it to the nipple. Some women have more adipose tissue than connective tissue and vice versa. In women with more fatty tissues, their breasts increase in size as they add weight. However, there must be significant weight gain for it to affect the breasts.

Hormones

As a woman, you go through several phases during your lifecycle. These phases have different hormonal changes in them.

Your hormones play a key role in the shape and size of your breast. That’s why whatever causes spikes in certain hormones like estrogen and progesterone —pregnancy, menstruation, birth control pills— will increase breast size.

Age

As you get older, the breast begins to reduce in size. There are several factors. The cessation of estrogen production at menopause inhibits connective tissues in the breast. They begin to shrink. The fatty tissue also begins to decrease. The ligaments begin to lose elasticity too. The breast reduces in size and becomes less pendulous.

Proportional Breast Augmentation: How it works?

The target here is proportion. The plan is to maintain the body’s silhouette and create body harmony.

In the earlier years, breast augmentation was like a ‘one-size-fits-all’ procedure. Things have evolved tremendously in recent times.

Now, breast implant choice is very personalized. Several things are considered in choosing the right size of implant for each patient.

The approach doesn’t only explore the size of the implant, but the material — silicone or saline — as well as the shape of the implant. These all culminate in giving you your desired look.

Measuring Body Proportions

This is essential in choosing the right implant size for you. We must balance out the upper body and the hips. You must also pay attention to the proportion of your breasts. These will help you make the right choice.

A series of measurements are done. They help identify the perfect breast size for each patient. The expert measures:

  • The Width Of Your Shoulders
  • The Breadth Of Your Chest
  • Your Torso/Hip Ratio
  • Distance Between Your Breasts
  • Your Breast’s Base Width
  • Breast Symmetry
  • Skin Laxity

Armed with these, our experts can counsel you appropriately on what size of implant will work best for you!

Available Techniques

Let’s see the various methods available for breast enlargement. There are surgical and nonsurgical methods. The most common method is the surgical method owing to its greater effectiveness.

Surgical Techniques

The commonest breast enlargement method is surgery. This breast enhancement surgery is called mammoplasty. About 2.2 million breast augmentation surgeries were done in 2022.

Mammoplasty changes the shape, size, and appearance of the breast. Our experts help you choose the right type, shape, and texture of implant to produce the desired results.

Breast implants are placed either above or beneath the chest muscles.

The surgery is done under anesthesia, takes 1-2 hours, and produces long-term results.

Nonsurgical Techniques

Other methods will also increase breast size. These are nonsurgical, non-invasive, or minimally invasive, and not as effective as mammoplasty. Some methods are

  • Breast Augmentation with Autologous Fat Transfer
  • Breast Augmentation with Hyaluronic Acid
  • Brava External Tissue Expander

Personalized Breast Augmentation

Breast augmentation has evolved from where everyone goes for the same size and results. The idea now is to get breast sizes that compliment your other features and don’t distort your silhouette.

For that to be achieved, the breast augmentation must be tailored to the individual.

The choices made will be informed by the information gathered from the patient and their body measurements and proportions.

Patient-focused Consultation

Your consultation with our health care practitioner is the beginning of the journey towards the perfect breast size. The experienced practitioner will ask you several questions and guide you toward making informed choices about the right implant for you.

The expert will do the following:

  • Check your general health status.
  • Explore your medical history and ensure you’re a good candidate for the procedure
  • Identify your desires and help you set attainable expectations.
  • Measure certain parts of the body—the breasts, shoulders, hips, etc.
  • Take pictures of your breasts
  • Explain outcomes, risks, and potential complications.

Tailored implant choice

During your consultation, one of the most important choices for you is the breast implant to use. Several options are explored to get to the right choice.

Type of Implant

  • Silicone Implant: It is filled with silicone gel. It has a natural feel. Because they pass for semisolids, they have a firm feel. This makes them look better and feel natural.
  • Saline Implant:  This has the advantage of needing a minimal incision to introduce the implant into the body. It is then filled with saline to the desired size. It is also an affordable option.
  • Gummy Bear Implant: This implant combines the fullness of the saline implant with the natural feel of the silicone implant. It is a great choice.

Shape of Implant

  • Round Implant: This implant goes for fullness over a natural look. The upper pole is full and makes for prominent cleavages.
  • Teardrop Implant: This mimics the downward slope of the breast, giving you a more natural look. However, these implants are textured and textured implants have fallen out of favor in recent years.

Texture of Implant

  • Smooth Implant: Smooth implants have smooth surfaces. These make them mobile in the breast pocket. This ensures they have a more natural feel
  • Textured Implant: The surface has a slightly rough feel. It reduces the risk of repositioning or displacement. It makes adhesion better. Textured implants have fallen out of favor in recent years.

After Breast Augmentation

Getting the perfect breast size doesn’t end after the mammoplasty. There are things to do post-procedure.

After the surgery,

  • Your breast will be wrapped with a bandage and held in place by a bra or tape;
  • You may have a drain in place for 1-2 weeks to drain fluid following surgery;
  • For the pain, you will be given pain medications and antibiotics;

You will be given instructions to follow after the surgery:

  • Don’t lift your hand above breast level until approved by the surgeon;
  • Don’t smoke for at least 4 weeks post-operation;
  • Replace bandages with new ones daily until follow-up;
  • Gently wash the incision area daily and pat it dry;
  • Take a lot of fluids!
  • Sleep on your back with your head and shoulders raised with a pillow;
  • Don’t lift anything over 10 pounds for 4-6 weeks post-op;
  • Eat a healthy diet;
  • Spend enough time resting;

Perfect Breast Size FAQs

  1. What is the best breast size?
    • There is no single breast size that works for everyone. The perfect breast size for you is the one that maintains the right proportion with the hips, shoulders, and chest width. These vary for different patients and so does the perfect breast size.
  2. What type of breast implant is best?
    • Among the available breast implants —saline, silicone, and gummy bear— the best is the gummy bear implant. This is because it combines the volume of saline with the natural feel of silicone. This makes it the perfect implant for you!
  3. What is the most natural-looking breast augmentation?
    • The shape of the implants is of two types — round and teardrop implants. The teardrop Implant takes the shape of the breast. It has the sloping appearance of a breast. This makes its appearance natural-looking!
  4. What is the least painful breast augmentation?
    • There are two placements for breast implants — submuscular and subglandular placements. The least painful is the subglandular placement. In this, the implant is placed between the muscle layer and the gland. It has a quicker recovery time and causes less pain than the submuscular placement.
  5. How long after breast augmentation can they be touched?
    • After a breast augmentation surgery, the breast can be touched lightly. However, the breast remains tender for up to 3 weeks.
