Fat Transfer to the Hand

WE TAKE PRIDE IN PRICE TRANSPARENCY

Fat Transfer to the Back of the Hands

Our hands are among the first parts of us to show visible and dramatic signs of aging. Our hands give away our age just as much as our faces do. Signs of aging on the face are the first things anyone notices about a person. But our hands are also prominent features. After the face and neck, they are perhaps the most visible and public parts of our bodies. For this reason, we offer our patients a full range of hand rejuvenation treatments to restore their hands to their youthful appearance.

Aging Hands

The human hand undergoes the ravages of aging in much the same way the face does. The soft tissue in the hands, which gives them their volumizing appearance, gradually depletes as we age, leaving the veins, tendons, and bones hidden in our youth more prominent and visible. The skin of the hands, like that on the face, becomes looser and more wrinkled as we age. It also receives as much sun exposure as the face, and are nearly always less protected. As a result, they suffer from pigmentation issues and textural problems in age.

How long does the fat last and how many treatments are necessary?

Fat transfers can be necessary to do once or up to three times, depending on how much of the fat that is transferred lives or takes. With each subsequent treatment, more of the fat survives as there is more live tissue to help support the newly injected fat cells. The fat transfer is long-lasting and can be permanent with stable body weight.

Frequently
Asked Questions

How long does it take to recover from facial fat transfer?

When it comes to the recovery time associated with the transfer of fat, many different factors could apply. Recovery times could vary depending on the patient, as well as the extent of the procedure. Typically, healing takes around a week.

Can fat be injected into hands?

Fat transfers to the hand are possible when undergoing injections from a surgeon. A surgeon will make incisions on the back of the hand in order to inject fat calls into the hand. A massage will then be performed to help the fat cells settle into the hand and create a smooth finish.

How long does it take to heal from a fat transfer?

Fat transfers can occur on several different areas of the body. Depending on where a fat transfer takes place can influence the recovery time. A patient who has gotten a fat transfer procedure done may be required to limit their normal activities for a few weeks to a few months.
