Peels Menu

The skin is your body’s largest organ. Keeping it healthy is important.  At Nazarian Plastic Surgery and Spa26, this often begins with a light medical peel. A chemical peel is a safe, effective way to diminish sun spots, erase fine lines & wrinkles, decrease acne, and correct uneven, “crepe” skin texture. The end result is the kind of smooth, healthy, glowing skin that will make you feel fantastic.

Chemical Peel Consultation

If your skin is looking dull and dehydrated, it may be time to come in and see us for a chemical peel consultation. During your in-person meeting, one of our skincare experts will listen closely to what bothers you about your skin. We will ask about your medical history, lifestyle choices such as sunbathing and smoking, skincare regime and any prior aesthetic procedures that you may have had including neurotoxins, fillers and lasers. Next, we will perform a VISIA skin analysis and physical examination to assess your:
  • skin tone & texture
  • sun damage
  • elasticity of your skin
  • redness
  • acne, if any
  • fine lines & wrinkles
Together, we will discuss the best peel for achieving your goals. A chemical peel can be a stand-alone procedure. However, we often use it as a way to prep the skin for a more intense anti-aging procedure such as lasers, FaceTite, BodyTite, or a facelift.

Ideal Candidate for a Chemical Peel

A peel is a non-surgical procedure in which a chemical solution is applied to the skin in order to promote exfoliation and improve skin tone and texture. Chemical peels can vary in strength from a mild, lunchtime peel to a deep, intense peel. The stronger the peel, the more improvement that you will see, but it also may require significantly more downtime.  The ideal candidate for a chemical peel is any man or woman who is bothered by:
  • age spots
  • acne scars
  • hyperpigmentation
  • melasma
  • fine lines & wrinkles
  • crow’s feet
  • scars
  • sun-damage
The important thing when considering a peel is choosing the right one for your skin’s needs as well as your lifestyle. At Nazarian Plastic Surgery, we take a big picture approach with all of our aesthetic procedures. Not everyone can tolerate the downtime required with certain deep peels. For them, a medium peel repeated more frequently may be the best solution. All of these options will be discussed with you in detail during your initial consultation.

How often should I get a peel?

The frequency is going to depend on what skin condition or conditions you are treating as well as the type of peel. Milder, lunchtime peels can be repeated every 3 months. But the really deep peels typically only need to be done once a year or every other year.

Chemical Peel Procedure & Recovery

A chemical peel is an outpatient procedure performed in our Beverly Hills office. First, a numbing cream will be applied to the treatment area in order to reduce any discomfort. Once you are completely numb, we will brush on the peel. You may feel anything from a slight tingling sensation to a more intense burn depending on the strength of the chemical peel that you selected. The peel is then washed off, and you are able to carry on with your day.    The recovery from a chemical peel is going to depend entirely on its intensity. With our lighter peels, such as the Pleasant Peel, you can expect some redness, but there should be no need to restrict your daily activities. A more intense peel, however, such as our Polish Peel is going to leave your face very red and swollen. You are going to need to lay low for the first 48 hours, and your skin will be irritated and crusty for a week or two. As the peel does its job, your skin will begin to scale and peel off. It is vital that you be vigilant about wearing sunscreen during this time in order to protect your new, unblemished skin.    To find out more about a chemical peel at Nazarian Plastic Surgery or Spa26 in Beverly Hills, contact us today or call (310) 773-3039 to schedule a consultation.   NOTE: Many of our Spa26 services are performed by physician extenders, not Dr. Nazarian. However, all have been trained personally by Dr. Nazarian. This includes our physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses and aestheticians. Feel free to inquire about who we think would be the best fit for your goals. Consultation fees will vary depending on the physician extender’s years of experience.

Frequently
Asked Questions

Are peels safe during pregnancy?

I know first-hand how crazy your skin can get during pregnancy. It is incredibly frustrating. But it’s best to wait until you are done breastfeeding before getting a chemical peel. Instead, we recommend pregnancy facials in our practice as well as a regime of pregnancy-safe, medical-grade skincare products that we have personally vetted on www.theskinspot.com.

What if I am going on vacation soon?

Can I still get a peel or should I wait?  If you are heading to the beach or any place where you will be out in the sun, wait until you get home before scheduling your chemical peel. The whole goal of a peel is to re-new your skin. But this new skin is also like a baby’s so you want to keep it out of the sun.

How long before a special event should I get a peel?

It is going to depend on the level of chemical peel that you get and we have all levels and kinds of peels here in the office. For a mild peel, I would give yourself 5-7 days. But for a really deep peel, you are going to want to give yourself a few weeks at least.

Do I need to use special skincare with my chemical peel?

Your skin is going to be sensitive after your chemical peel so we will recommend a gentle skincare routine. The specific one is going to depend on the intensity of the peel that you choose. And we will definitely discuss which skincare products you should use afterwards to maintain your fabulous results. We carry a bunch of great options at www.theskinspot.com.
