How the Procedure Works
Restylane Defyne is a hyaluronic acid-based gel injected into the chin to correct the face profile or wrinkles around the nose and mouth to smooth them. While Restylane Defyne is a non-surgical procedure, it still requires before and after preparation and aftercare and recovery time. As a patient, it is also essential to be aware of what you can expect during the procedure.

During the Procedure
Here is what the patient can expect throughout the Restylane Defyne procedure:- Cleanse the skin to be sure the treatment area is clean and ready for injections;
- Numb the treatment area with a topical anesthetic;
- Injections begin and will continue until desired results are achieved;
- After injections are complete, a light massage of the treatment area may take place to be sure the dermal filler is appropriately distributed and looks as natural as possible.
Aftercare & Recovery
The bullet points below are critical to ensure a healthy recovery process.- Minimize strenuous activity;
- Minimize exposure to heat and the sun, as they can cause inflammation and irritation to the treatment area;
- Use a dampened cold compress on the treatment area to help reduce any swelling that may occur;
- Refrain from washing the treatment area for at least six hours, which is typically when the numbing agent will wear off;
- Avoid taking aspirin, blood thinners, or NSAID medications, as these can increase the risk of bruising or bleeding at the injection site (any tenderness or swelling should subside within 1-2 weeks).

After receiving Restylane Defyne injections, it is very important to avoid sun exposure, strenuous activity, heat, and touching the skin for at least 6 hours.
You will see noticeable results immediately after treatment, with full correction taking up to a week. Results can last up to 12 months.
Restylane Defyne should not be used by people who are pregnant or breastfeeding and have severe allergies (anaphylaxis or are allergic to Lidocaine). You should avoid this procedure if you are under the age of 21 or if you take blood thinners and medication to prevent clotting.
While there is no hard proof that sleeping positions can affect fillers, it is a good idea for the patient to sleep on their back following their injections for at least a week.
Swelling, bruising, tenderness, headache, and pain are the most common side effects that typically subside within 7 days post-treatment.
