Enhance your Look with Breast Revision Surgery

A Breast Revision is a surgical procedure that improves upon previous breast surgeries, such as breast reduction, breast augmentation, ruptured breast implants, breast lift, breast reconstruction, and capsular contracture after breast implants. This procedure is also an option for patients who may be unsatisfied with the results of a previous breast implant surgery or wish to completely remove their breast implants.

Statistics from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) reveal that an estimated 37 percent of all breast revision surgeries in the country are women switching to different breast implant sizes. Desiring a different breast size is the main reason women undergo breast revision surgery, not due to complications of breast surgery. Regardless of the reasoning, breast revision is a highly effective way to improve the overall look and feel of the breasts to provide the patient with their ideal appearance.

What is a Breast Revision?

Breast enlargement is a standard breast procedure that women choose to undergo. However, like any surgery, this procedure does have risks, which may require a Breast Revision to correct results from previous surgery. A breast revision can reduce the size of the breasts, reconstruct the breasts, lift the breasts, or replace or remove the implants altogether. While most women are happy with the results of their breast enlargement using implants, some are not satisfied with the results because they are not exactly what they were hoping for. Some patients develop complications because the implants have deflated or ruptured or patients did not follow strict post-operative instructions. There are cases, too, when patients have their breast procedures with doctors who are not highly experienced and trained. If the patient is displeased with their result or is suffering from complications, breast revision is an effective option to correct that.

Breast Revision Benefits

Complications of a previous breast implant surgery can leave you feeling self-conscious about your appearance. Breast Revision surgery is a highly effective way to refresh the overall look of the breasts and provide you with the results you want, such as:

What Results to Expect:

  • A more symmetrical appearance.
  • Long-lasting results.
  • A lifted look to the breasts.
  • Corrected sagging and deflated breasts.

How Long Will Results Last?

Results from Breast Revision surgery are not permanent; however, they are long-lasting. Patients can expect their final results to last 10-15 years before another revision or lift is potentially required.

How the Procedure Works

There are many steps to follow to ensure a smooth process, and be sure you are as comfortable as possible from start to finish.

Before & Preparation

  • Schedule a consultation to discuss medical history, desired results, and cost.
  • Avoid taking Aspirin or other anti-inflammatory drugs as they increase the chance of bleeding.
  • Eat a balanced diet a few weeks before surgery to ensure you are healthy and nourished.
  • Avoid smoking for at least four weeks before surgery.
  • On the day of the procedure, what you eat or don't eat depends on if your surgery is awake or asleep. You can have a nutritious breakfast for awake cases. For cases with general anesthesia, you may not eat or drink anything after midnight unless specifically told otherwise by your anesthesiologist.

During the Procedure

  • General anesthesia will be administered.
  • Incisions are made around the edge of the areola.
  • The implants are altered to the patient’s desired result.
  • When final adjustments are complete, the incisions are closed.

Aftercare & Recovery

  • Bruising, swelling, and numbness are normal and should subside independently.
  • Avoid strenuous activity for at least three weeks.
  • Depending on your particular surgery, your surgeon may instruct you to wear a support bra.
  • Make sure you sit, stand, and walk around the evening after your surgery to help prevent blood clots.
  • Sleep on the back for a few weeks following surgery to prevent irritation.
  • Your doctor will instruct you on caring for the wound to avoid infection and keep the treated area clean.

“My appointment started on time and Dr. Nazarian was awesome! She was really sweet and made me feel comfortable. I had a son 10 months ago and I'm looking to fix all that breastfeeding has done. Dr. Nazarian has 3 kids of her own and understands how I'm feeling about my new body. She gave a few suggestions in terms of sizes, but really pushed that she wants me to make the decision to ensure my happiness. She gave me lots to think about before the operation! I didn't feel rushed and she answered all my questions. The staff helped me schedule my surgery (eek! ) and informed me of the payment options. Everything was smooth and painless!”Lanae G.
