How the Procedure Works

Forehead Reduction is a generally safe procedure that only takes 2-3 hours to complete depending on how much needs to be corrected. There are several things for the patient to be aware of before, during, and after their surgical procedure. Knowing what to expect will ensure the process will be as comfortable as possible and provide a healthy recovery process.

Before & Preparation

A consultation will be required to discuss medical history and desired results.
Do not smoke two weeks before surgery.
Discontinue using Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Advil, or any other blood thinners two weeks before surgery.
Avoid Garlic Extract, Fish Oils, Arnica, and Vitamin E two weeks before surgery.
Refrain from drinking alcohol or having salty food before surgery, as it can cause bruising and prolonged swelling.

During the Procedure

The forehead is analyzed and demarcated.
Under anesthesia, the surgeon will make an incision at the hairline.
Your surgeon will alter the hairline, and the incision will be closed.
As the hairline regrows, it will make any scarring virtually unnoticeable.

Aftercare & Recovery

Avoid strenuous activity for at least a week post-procedure.
Expect some amount of swelling and bruising around the forehead.
The patient may experience a numbing sensation behind the hairline, which will subside within a few weeks.
Sutures will be in place in the hairline for seven days.
