Enhance Your Look with a Forehead Reduction Procedure in Beverly Hill

Forehead Reduction is a cosmetic procedure that lowers the hairline to create more balance in the face. The ideal forehead takes up one-third of the total height of the face. A large forehead can come from genetics, hair loss, or previous surgeries. Regardless of the cause, getting a Forehead Reduction will result in a more suitable forehead size for the face overall.

Also known as Hairline Lowering, this procedure is not time-consuming and generally safe. A proportionate hairline is usually 5.5 to 7 centimeters above the brows. There are always exceptions, but usually, when the hairline is higher than 7 centimeters above the brows, it alters the balance in the face, resulting in a larger-looking forehead. This procedure will correct the high hairline and reduce the size of the forehead.

What is Forehead Reduction?

Forehead Reduction surgery will shorten the distance between the hairline and the eyebrows. This surgery produces a more proportionally sized forehead that complements the rest of the face.

You will be under anesthesia while an incision is made at the front of the hairline and forehead. After removing excess skin, the hairline will be pulled down and connected to the bottom of the incision. This technique will shorten the overall height of the forehead. The incision will then be closed, and if there are scars, they will mostly be covered by the hairline that regrows.

How the Procedure Works

Forehead Reduction is a generally safe procedure that only takes 2-3 hours to complete depending on how much needs to be corrected. There are several things for the patient to be aware of before, during, and after their surgical procedure. Knowing what to expect will ensure the process will be as comfortable as possible and provide a healthy recovery process.

Before & Preparation

  • A consultation will be required to discuss medical history and desired results.
  • Do not smoke two weeks before surgery.
  • Discontinue using Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Advil, or any other blood thinners two weeks before surgery.
  • Avoid Garlic Extract, Fish Oils, Arnica, and Vitamin E two weeks before surgery.
  • Refrain from drinking alcohol or having salty food before surgery, as it can cause bruising and prolonged swelling.

During the Procedure

  • The forehead is analyzed and demarcated.
  • Under anesthesia, the surgeon will make an incision at the hairline.
  • Your surgeon will alter the hairline, and the incision will be closed.
  • As the hairline regrows, it will make any scarring virtually unnoticeable.

Aftercare & Recovery

  • Avoid strenuous activity for at least a week post-procedure.
  • Expect some amount of swelling and bruising around the forehead.
  • The patient may experience a numbing sensation behind the hairline, which will subside within a few weeks.
  • Sutures will be in place in the hairline for seven days.
  • Apply a light compression dressing on the top of the head. Doing so will help reduce swelling and bruising.
  • Most patients feel comfortable returning to their daily routines within a few days post-procedure.

Similar & Related Procedures

  • Hair Transplantation : Hair Transplantation involves extracting hair follicles from a part of the scalp that is denser with hair and moving them to the area of the scalp where the hair is thinning or falling out.
  • Brow Lift : A Brow Lift procedure lifts the brows to shorten the vertical distance between the eyebrows and the hairline. This procedure can make the forehead appear smaller. However, it does not lower the hairline.

Avoid strenuous activity for at least one week. Wait a few days before wearing a hat to avoid irritating the incision.

The recovery period after Forehead Reduction surgery takes 2 to 3 weeks. During this period, it is common to experience swelling, bruising, itchiness, and pain. After three months, the hair will begin to grow normally. The scar may be red for 2 to 6 months.

Most patients are comfortable showering and shampooing their hair the day after surgery.

It can take 2 to 6 months for the scar to go away. However, the hair that grows back will hide the scar, making it visibly unnoticeable.

Forehead Reduction does not raise eyebrows. An eyebrow lift will raise the eyebrows, which can be done in combination with Forehead Reduction surgery. Receiving Forehead Reduction surgery will only lower the hairline, making the forehead appear smaller in size.

The average Forehead Reduction costs $8,500. However, it can range anywhere between $8,000-$13,000. The cost depends on if advanced techniques are needed or special preparations. The cost typically includes all anesthetic and facility fees.
