How the Procedure Works
Juvederm is a quick outpatient procedure with a simple recovery process and minimal downtime. Although this is a non-surgical procedure, each patient must know what to expect before, during, and after their Juvederm treatment.
In most cases, Juvederm treatments are performed in just minutes and require little or no downtime. However, bruising may occur no matter how experienced the injector is.
Cosmetic results are instantaneous, and the younger appearance achieved in a single Juvederm treatment can last up to one year. After this time, the body safely absorbs the biocompatible filler.
Final results will appear after two weeks post-treatment.

Before & Preparation
- A consultation will take place to determine the procedure cost and medical history.
- Avoid taking certain blood thinner medications such as Aspirin, Aleve, and Motrin one week before your procedure.
- Avoid taking Fish Oil one week before your procedure, as it thins the blood and can prolong bruising.
- Refrain from drinking alcohol 1-2 days before your procedure.

During the Procedure
- We can provide you with a topical anesthetic to reduce pain in the area on the day of your procedure.
- Your practitioner will insert the needle below the epidermis into the connective tissues within the dermal area of the face, where deep lines and folds develop.
- Injections will continue until the practitioner achieves the final results.
- There, the filler works like a sponge within the skin. It absorbs water, giving you a more youthful appearance.

Aftercare & Recovery
It is normal to experience minor swelling, bruising, and redness. These side effects will subside on their own, typically after 48 hours. Therefore, we suggest the following:
- Refrain from any strenuous activity for 24 hours post-treatment;
- Avoid touching or massaging the treated area for 24 hours post-treatment;
- Avoid excessive sun, heat, and cold exposure for the first two weeks to keep swelling to a minimum;
- Sleep on your back for at least two days after your procedure to reduce swelling and irritation in the treatment area;

Avoid excessive heat, such as hot showers, saunas, and sunbathing. Avoid strenuous activity and exercise for at least 24 hours post-treatment. Refrain from drinking alcohol for 24-48 hours after your procedure.
Results from Juvederm are immediate and will provide instant plumpness and volume of the face. However, the final results will develop two weeks post-treatment.
Swelling should begin to subside within 2 to 3 days post-treatment and completely go after 1 to 2 weeks.
It is imperative to drink lots of water after receiving Juvederm. Hyaluronic acid-based fillers work by using the water naturally found in our tissues. Drinking plenty of water post-treatment will help the filler hold its place and last longer.
You can wash your face the same night you receive your injections. However, avoid massaging, scrubbing, and exfoliating for at least 24 hours to avoid irritating the treatment area.
Be sure to sleep on your back after your Juvederm treatment. Keep your head elevated by using multiple pillows for at least three nights. This will ensure your filler stays in place post-treatment.
