Dermal Fillers Procedure
Dermal filler treatments are mostly performed in the office. Dr. Nazarian may apply a topical numbing cream and/or ice before your procedure to help reduce the chance of any discomfort. We also have NitroNox available. It’s a bit like laughing gas and helps to take the “edge off” in patients who are really anxious. Furthermore, most of the HA fillers also contain the numbing agent lidocaine. During your dermal filler treatment, Dr. Nazarian will inject the filler through a very fine needle into your skin. Depending on the filler being used, she may also need to massage the area. All of this will be discussed with you in detail during your initial consultation.
The length of the procedure will depend on the number of areas being treated, but most patients can expect to be done within an hour. You will have a little bit of redness at the injection site. This can easily be camouflaged with makeup. You may also have some slight swelling which will resolve on its own in 2-3 days. Bruising can vary from person to person. You can have no bruising, pinpoint bruising, or more significant bruising. We recommend stopping green tea, alcohol (especially wine), and any medications (herbal or medical) if safe to do so for 2 weeks prior to your treatment. We also have a wide range of bruising treatments available in case one does develop.
