Enhance your Profile with Neck Liposuction in Beverly Hills

Neck Liposuction is a surgical procedure that removes excess fat from the CervicoMental Angle (CMA), refining the submental region (beneath the chin) and the neck's vertical area. The procedure requires three tiny incisions in the skin surface to extract fat through a thin liposuction tube called a cannula.

Neck Liposuction is often performed in combination with other cosmetic procedures, such as Facelift or Neck Lift, to improve the appearance of the jawline. The result is long-lasting, provided the patient maintains a stable weight and follows a healthy diet.

What is Neck Liposuction?

Neck Liposuction, also called Chin Liposuction or Submental Liposuction, is a procedure that removes the fat pockets from the neck region. The surgery is typically performed using small incisions— one below the chin and one behind each earlobe. A thin tube called a cannula is inserted to break up and remove the fat.

Recovery time is typically brief; most people can return to work within a week. Chin liposuction can help improve the appearance of a double chin or fatty neck and can also help improve self-confidence and body image.

The treatment utilizes local anesthesia, which numbs the area around the neck, so the patient does not feel any pain during the procedure. This outpatient procedure usually takes less than one hour to complete.

Neck Liposuction Benefits

Neck Liposuction treatment is a safe and effective way to help improve the appearance of a patient's neck by removing excess fat, resulting in a more defined jawline.

What Results to Expect:

  • Removes Double Chin: The procedure removes the fat cells from the neck’s skin, improving the appearance of the chin.
  • Refines the Jawline: It gives balance to the facial features, refining the chin and the jawline.
  • Combines with Neck Lift: Combining Chin Liposuction with a neck lift further enhances the facial contours of people with saggy skin. It is ideal for people aged 50 and older.
  • Long-lasting Results: It lasts a lifetime if a patient maintains a healthy lifestyle and stable weight.
  • Can Transfer Fat to Face: Can use the fat suctioned from the neck to inject into areas of the face that have lost volume like the cheeks, temples, lips, marionette lines, or laugh lines.

How Long Will Results Last?

The enhanced jawline with submental liposuction surgery can last for many years. However, anatomically, the results will vary depending upon eating habits, exercise, and weight gain. The patient may find lifetime results if these variables are taken care of.

How the Neck Liposuction Procedure Works

Chin liposuction is a relatively quick surgical procedure, taking 30-45 minutes to complete. Our highly experienced surgeons will inform you of the proper preparation and aftercare to ensure the best results.

Before & Preparation

  • Pre Op Consultation: Be sure to provide your complete medical history to your surgeon before the procedure. This will allow the doctor to adjust the treatment plan based on allergies or past surgical history.
  • Avoid Smoking and Drinking: Smoking and drinking are major risk factors for poor healing after surgery. Avoid them for at least 2-4 weeks before surgery.
  • Food and Supplement Restrictions: Try avoiding foods, drinks, and any supplements, such as vitamin E, omega-3, and fish oil, as they may cause bleeding.
  • Avoid Aspirin: Do not take aspirin, Naproxen, Ibuprofen, Motrin, and other blood-thinning medicines. Use Tylenol as an over-the-counter painkiller.
  • Arrange a Caregiver: Bring someone who can drive you back home after the surgery and be with you for at least a few hours.

During the Procedure

Chin liposuction typically uses local anesthesia but can be performed with sedatives or general anesthesia based on patent preference.

The process involves the following steps:

  • Marking Incision Areas: The whole neck area, including the jawline, is examined, marking the areas for the incisions.
  • Skin Cleansing: The skin is cleansed with an antiseptic solution, reducing the risks of infection.
  • Numbing Cervicomental Region: The local anesthetic (numbing medication) is injected into the skin to numb the areas, making a comfortable experience for the patient.
  • Making Small Incisions: A biopsy punch is used to make small incisions in the skin to insert the suction wand (also known as a cannula) to suction out the fat. The incisions are just large enough to introduce the liposuction cannula.
  • Removing Fat: The cannula is inserted and used back and forth to suction out the excess fat until the smooth, defined jawline appears.
  • Bandaging the Incisions: The cuts are then appropriately cleaned and bandaged, ensuring the wounds are protected from contamination.

Aftercare & Recovery

The recovery process may differ for each patient, depending on the type of anesthesia used. The patients may feel nauseous and tired if treated under general anesthesia, which can last for several days up to a week. Follow the doctor's instructions carefully to ensure a smooth and fast recovery.

  • Chin Strap Support: Wear a chin support garment to reduce swelling and bruises. Wear the garments for at least a week, 24 hours a day. Try to use it for another week or two at night.
  • Avoid Strenuous Activity: Desist from lifting heavy objects for a week.
  • Keep Right Posture: Sleep without a pillow with your neck extended, ensuring the neck is not squeezed. Follow this routine for a week until further instructions from the doctor.
  • Avoid Blood-thinning Medication: Stick to Tylenol for over-the-counter medication until your wounds have fully healed.
  • Keep Light Diet: Eat a light, low-fat meal, especially if the treatment was performed under general anesthesia; it tends to make the patients nauseous.
  • Stay Hydrated: Drink at least 8 - 10 glasses of water a day.

Neck Liposuction Reviews

“Sheila might be the coolest doctor I've ever met! I went in for my free consultation on elective cosmetic surgery and she talked to me for a while. I felt special, not rushed, and she definitely knows her stuff.

She actually recommended me NOT to go ahead with the surgery, which surprised me as it was to her benefit. I love that about her, she really cares about her patients and that they make the best decision for their lives. They followed up with me a few months after the consultation and if I elect to do any surgeries in the future, Sheila will be my first call!”

Usually, the skin retracts within a few days, but the recovery phase is about 3-6 weeks. However, the tightening of skin depends upon the patient's anatomy.
