When can I sleep without a bra after breast augmentation?

After surgery, you should wear the surgical bra constantly (this includes bedtime) for 2-3 weeks. After this period, if you are fully recovered, you can stop wearing the surgical bra, and continue with your normal supportive bras.

What to expect 1 month post-op breast augmentation?

One month after surgery, you will be able to see the final results. Very subtle and mild changes can occur, and the scars will become lighter. When it comes to swelling, it should wear off completely.

How long after breast augmentation can I swim?

It’s recommended to continue with your swimming routine 3 weeks after your surgery. Your skin tissues will be healed and they will become more water-resistant. However, make sure that you dry off your incisions properly after getting out of water. Avoid staying in your damp swimming suit for too long.

What is breast augmentation in medical terms?

In medical terms, breast augmentation is a surgical procedure ised to increase the breast’s  size and shape. Breast implants, or fat transfer is used in this invasive procedure. They are usually inserted via an incision placed under the breasts at the crease.

How to relieve nerve pain after breast augmentation?

The best way to relieve nerve pain after breast augmentation is via painkillers (Nortriptyline and Amitriptyline), nerve-blocking injections, and topicals. Additionally, you can use wrapped ice packs.

When can I sleep on my side after breast augmentation?

You should slep on your back for 6-8 weeks after breast augmentation to minimize swelling. After 8 weeks, you can interchange sleeping positions and sleep on your side.

How to relax chest muscles after breast augmentation?

After breast augmentation, you can relax the chest muscles by deep breath exercises, massage therapy and gentle stretching. Healthcare practitioners also reccomend doorway chest stretch, seated forward fold, and chest opener as good ways to stretch chest muscles.

How long does it take for breasts to settle after augmentation?

Will breast augmentation increase my risk of breast cancer?

No, it won’t. Several studies have shown that there isn’t a risk of breast cancer in women after breast augmentation. However, you might have a higher chance of developing ALCL. ALCL is a rare type of T-cell lymphoma.

Will the new implants affect my physical functioning, can I lift heavy objects?

Immediately after the surgery, lifting heavy objects is forbidden since it can expose the incision to infection. However, one month after the treatment, you can perform any kind of physical activity without worrying.
